We’re Headed to the Friends for Life ConferenceGipper Monson

Hi everyone, Gipper here to let you know the Children with Diabetes conference – Friends for Life 2011 – is fast approaching and sanofi-aventis U.S. diabetes is excited to be at this year’s event! On Wednesday, July 6th, we will participate in a day of discussions by hosting a focus group on “Transition in Care: Sewing the Net Before Letting Go”. A small group discussion begins at 9 a.m. and is open to children living with type 1 diabetes and their parents who are registered for the conference.

The Friends for Life 2011 Conference, sponsored by sanofi-aventis U.S. and others, is on July 5-10 at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and provides an opportunity for participants to learn more about the impact of diabetes on children, parents, siblings, and extended family.

Participants of the Transition in Care focus group will share their stories and learn from one another as they discuss tips, tools and resources for sending a child with type 1 diabetes to camp, school, off to college, and more, all for the first time.

Wrapping up the focus group, Pam Henry, co-founder of MyCareConnect and mother of a child living with type 1, will join us to share her story and unveil a new project! MyCareConnect is an online tool that helps children with diabetes quickly and easily connect with parents, nurses and doctors. As part of MyCareConnect, Pam will give attendees a preview of their new mobile application that allows connections to happen faster and more conveniently. We’re also excited to sit down with Pam and her husband John for an interview, so look out for a post with them later this year!

If you’re interested in attending the “Transition in Care: Sewing the Net Before Letting Go” focus group, visit the Children with Diabetes Focus Groups Scheduling page, and sign up!

Hope to see you next week,

Gipper
