#DSMA (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) Twitter Chat
Every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST – Online
The diabetes community, family members of people with diabetes and caregivers get together once a week to participate in the #DSMA (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) Twitter Chat. The topics vary from living with diabetes to media, food, exercise and more.
DSMA Live
Every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST – Online
The #DSMA Twitter chat conversation is taken a step further on Thursdays via a live interview known as DSMA Live. Each week, Cherise Shockley along with co-hosts George Simmons and Scott Johnson, speak about the current week’s topic with a different guest every week. People participate by calling in or chatting on the message board.
AADE Annual Meeting & Exhibition
August 1-4, 2012 – Indianapolis, IN
Better health, better outcomes and better lives through the power of partnership. AADE12 will explore how empowerment and teamwork extend to everyone involved with diabetes education and care.
DSMA Tweet-up (AADE)

Diabetes Social Media Advocacy (DSMA) is hosting a Tweet-up at the Indianapolis Arts Garden (110 West Washington Street) on Friday, August 3.
Drive For a Cure
August 3‐4, 2012 – Hardeeville, SC
The annual “Drive For a Cure” campaign promotes awareness and education, as well as, supplements funds for research, treatment and prevention of type 1 diabetes (T1D). Drive For a Cure 2012 is partaking in its 3rd consecutive event, this year being held at Hampton Hall Golf Club.
Healthy Lifestyles Mall Event – Atlanta, GA
August 10-12, 2012 – Atlanta, GA – Lenox Square Mall
Take part in a pop-a-shot challenge, pose for an interactive photo experience that instantaneously emails you a picture of yourself slam dunking, lifting an extreme dumbbell, dancing or crossing the finish line in a marathon.
Atlanta Dream Dribble to Stop Diabetes Skills Academy
August 11, 2012 – Atlanta, GA – Tucker High School
The Dribble to Stop Diabetes Team will be in Atlanta, Georgia, raising awareness of the importance of healthy, active lifestyles and diabetes awareness by conducting a skills academy for local youth with WNBA Atlanta Dream coaches and players.
5th Annual Walk for the Dogs
August 11, 2012 – Walnut Creek, CA
Please join Dogs4Diabetics for a day of fun! Enjoy a beautiful 5K walk through Heather Farms Park and along the Iron Horse Trail. Your registration provides a T-shirt, refreshments and the opportunity to win some great prizes. Put together a Team of Walkers to join you for a fun day supporting a wonderful cause!
JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes – La Crosse, WI
August 16-19, 2012 – La Crosse, WI
Riders from around the world take on two challenges: raising the money needed to fund research for better treatments and a cure for diabetes, and reaching a personal training goal to prepare for a destination cycling experience.
Victory Over Diabetes
August 18, 2012 – Washington, DC
A full day program for people with diabetes, those at risk for diabetes and anyone interested in healthy living. Admission is free.
Chicago Sky Dribble to Stop Diabetes Team Night
August 21, 2012 – Rosemont, IL – Allstate Arena
The Dribble to Stop Diabetes Team will be in the Chicago area in Rosemont, Illinois, raising awareness of the importance of healthy, active lifestyles and diabetes awareness as the Chicago Sky take on the New York Liberty. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
Safe at School Workshop
August 25, 2012 – Denver, CO
Does your child have diabetes? Come to the ADA’s Safe at School Workshop on August 25 to learn about the rights of you and your child at school.
