American Diabetes Month takes place each November and is a time to come together as a community to Stop Diabetes®!

DSMA Live: Parents Talk
Every Monday at 9 p.m. EST – Online
The mission of DSMA (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) is to promote social networking in all its forms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) in order to educate and support all people affected by diabetes.

Every Tuesday at 8 p.m. CST – Online

#DSMA (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) Twitter Chat
Every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST – Online
The diabetes community, family members of people with diabetes and caregivers get together once a week to participate in the #DSMA (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) Twitter Chat. The topics vary from living with diabetes, media, food, exercise and more.

DSMA Live
Every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST – Online
The #DSMA Twitter chat conversation is taken a step further on Thursdays via a live interview known as DSMA Live. Each week, Cherise Shockley along with co-hosts George Simmons and Scott Johnson, speak about the current week’s topic with a different guest every week. People participate by calling in or chatting on the message board.

Fall Into Fashion Luncheon – Great Neck, NY
November 1, 2012 – Fresh Meadow Country Club
Combine a fall day, women from all walks of life and a spectacular runway fashion show by world-renowned designer Oscar De La Renta and it can only be the Annual Fall Into Fashion Luncheon benefiting the cure-focused work of the Diabetes Research Institute.

One Inspired Evening – Lee’s Summit, MO
November 2, 2012 – Longview Mansion
An inspirational evening full of fun – cocktail reception, dinner, program, silent auction, live music and dancing.

Diabetic Youth Foundation’s 75th Anniversary – Blackhawk, CA
November 3, 2012 – Blackhawk Museum
This year’s event is themed: Driving Forward “Fueled by 75 Years” and will celebrate DYF’s 75 years of providing programs and services to children, teens and families affected by type 1 diabetes.

39th Annual Love & Hope Preview Party – Hallandale, FL
November 8, 2012 – Diplomat Country Club
Often referred to as the “Heart of Love and Hope,” the 39th Annual Preview Party will begin with a cocktail reception and continue in the ballroom with dinner and dancing. The event benefits the Diabetes Research Institute.

ADA EXPO – Pittsburgh, PA
November 10, 2012 – David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Dance Out Diabetes Dance-a-thon – San Francisco, CA
November 10, 2012 – African American Art & Culture Complex
The supervised dance program is for T1, T2, LADA and friends and families. It provides ongoing health screenings at each session (A1C, blood pressure, weight and pre- and post-dance glucose checks) and tracks progress over time with a secure Internet patient portal; consultation with a certified diabetes educator and dietitian; a 45 minute dance lesson from a qualified instructor and an optional 45 minute freestyle dance to DJ music.

World Diabetes Day – Worldwide
November 14, 2012
World Diabetes Day (WDD) is celebrated every year on November 14. The World Diabetes Day campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its member associations. It engages millions of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness.

JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes – Tucson, AZ
November 15-18, 2012 – Tucson, AZ
Riders from around the world take on two challenges: raising the money needed to fund research for better treatments and a cure for diabetes, and reaching a personal training goal to prepare for a destination cycling experience.

4th Annual Diabetes: Head to Toe Conference – North Brunswick, NJ
November 17, 2012 – North Brunswick Township High School
A day of free medical screenings, bilingual educational workshops, cooking and exercise demonstrations, diabetes support services, exhibitors and fun for the community.

High Hopes Gala – Boston, MA
November 17, 2012 – The Westin Boston Waterfront
The High Hopes Gala was established in 1999 to promote awareness and raise funds for the vital diabetes clinical care programs and groundbreaking research initiatives at Joslin Diabetes Center.

Type 1 Diabetes Retreat 2012 – Vail, CO
November 30 – December 2, 2012 – Vail Marriott Mountain Resort and Spa
Type 1 Diabetes Retreat. Hike, play, s’mores and talk diabetes with people who know and understand it just like you.
