The topics vary from living with diabetes, to media, food, exercise and more.

[ August 3, 2011 to August 6, 2011. ] With nearly 300 participating companies, the AADE Annual Meeting & Exhibition is an unmatched resource for gathering the latest information about innovations related to diabetes education—an exclusive, once-a-year opportunity for diabetes educators and diabetes healthcare professionals to participate in live demonstrations and face-to-face question and answer sessions with industry experts.

[ August 8, 2011; ] A day on the golf course is certainly something to look forward to, and it is so much more rewarding when you can play for an important cause. On Monday, August 8, 2011, the Rod Gilbert Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Golf Classic is being held at the beautiful Pine Hollow Country Club, East Norwich to raise the much needed funds to find a cure for children and adults living with diabetes.

[ August 13, 2011; ] This 5k will be held in Palmerton, PA. It is a loop with the start/finish at the Palmerton Borough Park at 3rd and Franklin Ave, Palmerton, PA, 18071. Registration will be between 8-9am and the race will start at 9am. Please pre-register for this event online at the site listed.

[ August 13, 2011; ] Tri to Cure is a youth triathlon for ages 5-15 at Furman University in Greenville, SC. This year we will celebrate our 10th anniversary with over 4,500 children that have participated and over $250,000 raised for Diabetes.

[ August 20, 2011; ] The event is a joint fundraiser for People Helping People and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The event includes a champagne reception, tasting of an extensive array of California wines, and a dinner and dessert buffet prepared by locally and nationally renowned chefs. The setting overlooking the vineyard and the entire valley is breathtaking.

[ August 21, 2011; ] The Motorcycle Ride for Diabetes is a great opportunity for anyone to get involved who wants to help find a cure for diabetes. The organization, We Can BCause We Care, holds this great event at the Bristol Elks Lodge in Rhode Island. Volunteers and riders are needed.

[ August 26, 2011 to August 28, 2011. ] Unlike any other conference/retreat you’ll ever experience– you will learn about diabetes resources in your community, spend time sharing stories and experience evenings with other retreat members and hear from some exciting guests.

[ August 28, 2011; ] Bring your family and friends or go with your co-workers and make it a summer staff outing. Gather fundraising tools, connect with others touched by type 1 diabetes and hear about the progress being made in diabetes research.
